Dear Prospective Member:

 If you are interested in joining a private “Country Club” with a championship golf course, you may want to consider Cherokee National Golf & Recreation Club, located in Gaffney, S.C. We believe Cherokee National is the best value in the Carolinas. Currently, Cherokee National has a limited number of memberships available.  

 In 1963, Cherokee National was designed by Russell Breedan, longtime golf course architect who has an excellent reputation in the golf industry. Recently, Cherokee National went through a major renovation. The golf course, clubhouse and swimming pool renovations were done in phases between 2002 and 2004. At that time, Cherokee National rebuilt the greens, rebuilt many tee boxes, upgraded the irrigation system, built a new cart building, renovated the swimming pool, made some major clubhouse improvements and relocated maintenance facilities.

 The par 72 golf course measures over 7,000 yards from the championship tees. Cherokee National has some of the finest putting surfaces you’ll ever find. The greens and greenside bunkers have been rebuilt and greens grown-in with a new strand of bent, called L-93 bent. The rest of the golf course including fairways, roughs and tees is a blend of bermuda grasses.  The club also has some very fine practice facilities, so you can work on all parts of your game.

The course is very challenging, but also very “player friendly” so the entire membership will enjoy it. The slope rating from the most popular regular tees is 124 with a course rating of 71.5 which measures 6,600 yards. The course also has a forward set of tees at 6,200 yards, ladies/super forward tees at 5,300 yards. And for the pee wee golfer, we have a set of junior tees that measures 3,800 yards.

Managing the operations at Cherokee National is Director of Golf, Daniel Agapion who has been a PGA member since 1989. Daniel has been the Director of Golf at some very fine golf clubs in the Carolinas. Director of Golf Course Maintenance is Todd Roberson. Todd grew up at Cherokee National then moved on to become the superintendent at some nearby clubs, but came back home during the period when Cherokee National was undergoing its major renovations. Daniel and Todd make an excellent team with their experience and knowledge in the golf business. They are under the direction of the Board of Directors.
