The Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is a committee operating under the direction of the Board of Directors. The club president appoints the committee chairman in January of each year. The chairman selects, with the approval of the president, members to serve on the Membership Committee.

The purpose of the Membership Committee is to oversee the membership approval and resignation process and will oversee membership promotions.

The House Committee

The House Committee is a committee operating under the direction of the Board of Directors.  The club president appoints the committee chairman in January of each year. The chairman selects, with the approval of the president, members to serve on the House Committee. 

 The purpose of the House Committee is to oversee the entire clubhouse including clubhouse functions, golf operations, driving range, food & beverage operations and social hall.

The Swimming Pool Committee

The Swimming Pool Committee is a committee operating under the direction of the Board of Directors. The club president appoints the committee chairman in January of each year. The chairman selects, with the approval of the president, members to serve on the Pool Committee.

The purpose of the Swimming Pool Committee is to oversee the swimming pool operations. The Swimming Pool Committee and Swimming Pool Manager should work closely with the House Committee and Golf Professional / Manager.

The Tournament & Handicap Committee

The Tournament & Handicap Committee is a committee operating under the direction of the Board of Directors.  The club president appoints the committee chairman in January of each year. The chairman selects, with the approval of the president, members to serve on the Tournament & Handicap Committee along with the Golf Professional and Golf Course Superintendent.

The purpose of the Tournament & Handicap Committee is to oversee the tournament schedule including; member tournaments, golf outings and members handicaps. The Tournament Committee works very closely with the Golf Professional, Golf Course Superintendent.

Henry Transou Tournament Committee

The Henry Transou Tournament Committee is a committee operating under the direction of the Board of Directors and Tournament Committee. The club president points the committee chairman in January of each year. The chairman selects, with the approval of the president, members to serve on the Henry Transou Tournament Committee along with the Golf Professional and Golf Course Superintendent.

The purpose of the Henry Transou Tournament Committee is to oversee the Henry Transou Memorial Tournament that is usually held the last Saturday in April each year. The Henry Transou Tournament Committee works very closely with the Golf Professional, Superintendent. The funds raised during the Henry Transou Memorial Tournament will be used for special club projects that are approved by the Board of Directors.

The Greens Committee

The Greens Committee is a committee operating under the direction of the Board of Directors. The club president appoints the committee chairman in January of each year. The chairman selects, with the approval of the president, members to serve on the Greens Committee. 

The purpose of the Greens Committee is to oversee the entire golf course and grounds and work very closely with the Golf Course Superintendent. The committee prioritizes golf course projects and recommends course set-up; length of grasses, speed of greens, etc to Golf Course Superintendent.

The Greens Committee shall have charge and control of all play on the golf course and related activities. It is also responsible for the maintenance of the golf course and all shrubs, roads, grounds, and improvements other than the clubhouse and pool.

The Greens Committee work closely with the Tournament Committee to ensure the amount and type of play does not damage the golf course.

The Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is a committee operating under the direction of the Board of Directors. The club president appoints the committee chairman in January of each year. The chairman selects, with the approval of the president, members to serve on the Finance Committee.

The purpose of The Finance Committee is to oversee the finances of the club including operating expenses and revenues. Preparations of the club’s operating budget is presented to the Board of Directors.

The Youth Committee

The Youth Committee is a committee operating under the direction of the Board of Directors.  The club president appoints the committee chairman in January of each year. The chairman selects, with the approval of the president, members to serve on the Youth Committee.

The purpose of the Youth Committee is to oversee Cherokee National Junior Golf Association (CNJGA) which includes junior golf clinics and tournaments. The Youth Committee works very closely with the Golf Professional who directs the junior golfers at Cherokee National Golf Club.

The Communications & Marketing Committee

The Communications & Marketing Committee is a committee operating under the direction of the Board of Directors. The club president appoints the committee chairman in January of each year. The chairman selects, with the approval of the president, members to serve on the Communications & Marketing Committee.

The purpose of the Communications & Marketing Committee is a committee to communicate to the membership what is happening at Cherokee National and Market Cherokee National. Most Communications will be done by newsletters, e-mail and signage at Cherokee National.

REGISTER IN GOLF SHOP BEFORE YOU START YOUR ROUND

All members and guests (including walkers) must register in the Golf Shop before play.
All green fees and cart fees must be paid in the Golf Shop before play commences.
All members and guests must register in the Golf Shop before fishing in any lake located on the golf course.

TEE TIMES

Tee times are required on Saturdays, Sundays and all holidays
Members may make tee times by calling (864) 489-9417
All play will start on No. 1 except on Sundays - split tee times off No. 1 and No. 10 between 12:14 and 2 p.m.
All p layers are required to check in at the Golf Shop even if you are walking

During the off season (December, January, and February)

Saturdays, a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m.
Sundays, a shotgun start at 12:45 p.m.
Call the golf shop to reserve a starting hole. 

PROPER GOLF ETIQUETTE REQUIRED

 

Fivesomes are allowed seven days a week at Cherokee National. However, the golf shop staff has the right
to ask a group to
break up if they cannot keep pace with the group ahead of them.

 

  • PLEASE KEEP PACE WITH THE GROUP AHEAD OF YOU. Cherokee National has been rated as a 4 hour golf course for a foursome with carts going 90 degrees and 4 hours 15 minutes with carts required to stay on cart paths.  Slow play will not be tolerated.  If a group cannot keep pace, the golf shop staff has the authority to ask a group to pick up their balls and skip a hole(s) to return to proper place on the course.  Please play “ready golf” and always allow faster groups through if you have an open hole in front of you.  Please limit your time at the turn to five (5) minutes.
  • Carts must be returned to clubhouse by dark (sunset).
  • USGA rules govern play.
  • Loud or abusive language is prohibited on the golf course, swimming pool, clubhouse or on club property.
  • Throwing golf clubs is prohibited.
  • Please beware of golfers on blind driving holes - #4, #7 #8 and #18. 
  • Please rake bunkers and leave rakes in bunkers.
  • Please repair your ball mark and one more on the greens
  • Please kick in your divots in the fairway.

 

DRESS CODE

  • Proper golf attire required.

  • Non metal spikes required at all times.

  • Clothes that are not appropriate are: cut-offs, bathing suits, short shorts, or any kind of athletic shorts, tank tops, or fish net tops. Shirts are to be worn at all times. Dressy T-shirts are acceptable.

  • Appropriate golf attire is also to be worn while practicing on the driving range, chipping green and putting green.

  • Improperly dressed golfers will be asked to change.

  • Members are responsible for the attire of their guests.

MEMBER FEES & DUES

Mbership Initiation Fees $1000 (Excluded with the purchase of a Charter Membership)

·         Dues can be paid in two ways:

2012 Annual Dues ---  $1080 Payment must be made in full by April 10th

(when paid annually receive Four Green Fee Passes, Carts not included)

2012 Monthly Dues – $90 Payment must be made by the 10th of the month; failure in doing so will result in appropriate penalties being applied:

                30 days----- $25 penalty.

                                                60 days----- $50 penalty.

90 days----- membership revoked.

·         Handicap Fee                               $18 annually due Feb 28th or $20annually if paid after March 1st

·         Green Fee 18 hole weekday      $26

BEHAVIOR FINEABLE OFFENSES

 

  • First Offense Letter (sent to membership owner and Club President )
  • Second Offense $20 (Letter sent to membership owner and Club President) 
  • Third Offense $50  (Letter sent to membership owner and Club President)                           
  • Fourth Offense Suspension  (3 months suspension, due must be maintained, letter sent to membership owner and Club President)  
  • Fifth Offense Expulsion (Life Time Expulsion, letter sent to membership owner and Club President)  
  • Major violations can result in suspension or expulsion from the club without warning or fines. (Letter sent to membership owner and Club President) 

 

May be levied by Board appointed monitors, the Greens Superintendent or Golf Professional for the following offenses:

  1. Throwing any type of trash anywhere on the course at anytime.

2.       Failure to repair your ball mark repeatedly on green.

3.       Failure to rake your tracks before leaving a bunker.

  1. Playing a ball from any putting green with a club that will damage the green.
  2. Placing your golf bag on any putting green.
  3. Personal uses of the driving range balls.
  4. Failure to register a guest. 
  5. Deliberate abuse of golf course property.
  6. Failure to co-operate with a Club staff member.
  7. Failure to adhere to power golf carts rules.
  8. Loud or abusive language.
  9. Dress code violation.
  10. Throwing clubs.
  11. Drunkenness.
  12. Fighting.
  13. Allowing any children without a driver's license to operate a golf cart.
  14. Beginning a round without checking in with the golf staff.
  15. Hitting into the group ahead of yours. 
  16. Cheating on handicaps.
  17. Cheating during the play of club tournaments.
  18. Not reporting damage to a golf cart.
  19. Theft of any kind.

 

GOLF CART POLICIES AND INFORMATION

 

  • The Club provides golf carts.  Please follow rules posted on steering wheel by E-Z-GO to operate golf carts.
  • Carts are required on Saturday, Sunday & Holidays during peak times.
  • The board has authorized the Golf Course Superintendent to close the course to the use of carts at his discretion and his decision in this matter shall be final.
  • Handicap Flag Policy:  A request by a physically impaired member at Cherokee National Golf Club to take a cart out into the fairways when carts are restricted to cart paths, must be approved by the board of directors.   If a member is approved for a handicap flag he or she may drive carts out on the fairways (using the 90 degree rule), when carts are restricted to the cart paths.  Carts may go 90 degrees but must stay on paths around tees and greens and par 3’s.  Carts must stay at least 30 feet from greens and carts are not ever allowed between greens and greenside bunkers.   The Golf Course Superintendent reserves the right to restrict carts to all players for the day if he feels it is in the best interest of the golf course on that day due to spraying or extra wet conditions.  If a request for a flag on a temporary basis due to a temporarily disability is requested the Golf Professional and/or Golf Course Superintendent has the authority to issue a flag.  All members issued a handicap flag must sign the document with guidelines and if privileges is abused the board of directors has the right to terminate handicap flag privileges.
  • Children without a driver's license are not allowed to operate a golf cart, even with an adult present.
PULL CARTS
  • Cherokee National Golf Club does not provide storage of pull carts.
  • Pull carts are not allowed on any teeing ground, putting green, bunker, or hazard.
  • Cherokee National Golf Club is not responsible for any pull carts that may be lost or stolen.
  • Only 2 golf bags and 2 people are allowed on a golf cart.
  • A cart shall not be driven beyond the cart directional signs at the green or no closer than 90 feet to greens.  Carts must remain on the paths on all Par 3 holes, #3, #4 (off-season) and #12. Carts shall not be driven onto a bank or surface of a teeing ground, into a hazard, bunker, or in the trees.
  • Cart Rule is 90 degrees unless Golf Course Superintendent restricts carts to paths for the day.
  • Members will be charged for damage to golf carts, including parts and labor.  Members are responsible for damaged carts done by any of their guests.
  • All damage to golf carts must be reported to the golf shop immediately following your round.
  • Carts are not to be driven into privately owned yards.
  • Only the carts of the driving range attendant or golf shop staff member are allowed on the driving range.
  • All carts must be returned to the designated cart return area after the round is completed.
  • Cherokee National Golf Club is not responsible for any articles left or stolen while at the golf course including items left in a cart.
  • In the event that all golf carts are on the course, tee times will determine to whom the next available cart goes to.
  • Cherokee National Golf Club does not provide storage of cart covers.
PRIVATE CARTS
  • Private Golf carts owned by members who drive their cart to and from golf course and members who  use their cart while they play must be registered at the club.  Golf cart registration applications available at clubhouse.  Annual Golf Cart Registration Fee - $10 (Ten Dollars)
  • Members may use their own privately owned golf carts but must pay the regular cart fee.
  • Private golf carts must sign in before play begins. 
  • Private carts must not cross fairways to access the golf course on the days that carts are restricted to paths or days that the course is closed. It is the members responsibility to call 864.489.9417 to find out status of the course that day.

·         Private carts are allowed at a discounted (50% off regular cart fee rate) to those members only who have been “grandfathered.”  Please note, these members may use their private cart that has been approved but once the life of the cart dies the cart may not be replaced.

·         Members who have purchased lots from Cherokee National Golf & Recreation Club, Inc may own private golf carts.  If and when the lot or home that was purchased from Cherokee National is resold the private golf cart privilege may be transferred to new homeowner.  The private cart trail fee rate is 50% off the regular cart fee.

MEMBERS ACCOMPANIED GUEST POLICY

·         Guest must be accompanied by a member to play Cherokee National Golf Club.  Guests may be sponsored by member during non-peak times if set up by the member and approved by the Board of Directors.

  • Members will be responsible for their guests conduct while on club premises including any debt, liability, or loss incurred by guests to the club.
  • Members are allowed to have eleven (11) guests and they must play in one of the groups unless special arrangements are made with golf professional / member and board of directors approval if necessary.
  • The member is responsible for registering and their guest before play commences.
  • The member should make sure that each guest adheres to the dress code.
  • The member should also be responsible for the pace of play of their guests.
  • The member himself must arrange for their tee time and clearance to play.

DRIVING RANGE

·         Range balls are available in the golf shop.

·         Small bucket $1.50                             Medium bucket $4              Jumbo bucket $10

·         Annual Range Plan (Unlimited Range Balls) @ $200 + $50 for additional family members.

·         Members must hit between driving range ropes or designated area.

·         Range is open from 8:00am until dark daily except Monday during the months May – October the range closes at 5:00pm to allow cart attendants to pick range balls so maintenance can mow on Tuesday morning.  Range will reopen on Tuesday immediately after mowing.

·         Golf Course Superintendent has the right to close range at anytime for other maintenance

·         Golf Shop Staff has the right to close the range at anytime due to wet conditions.

  • Range Balls are to be used only in the practice areas never on the course.
  • Anyone caught using range balls on the course will be fined and could be expelled from the course.
  • Range balls should never be taken home, put in locker or put in the trunk of their cars to be used at another time.
  • Please do not hit range balls into the woods (on purpose) or toward number 18 or 9 fairway or green.
  • Please try to avoid the workers that are picking up the range balls.
  • Do not drive golf carts on the driving range or its tees.
  • Please do not throw trash on the driving range.

 

USE OF THE COURSE
  • The use of the course is restricted to the game of golf. Club members may walk the cart paths for exercise before 8:00 am and after7:00 pm.  Avoid Golfers for safety reasons.
  • Bicycles are not permitted on the golf course property at any time.

·         Fishing is not permitted on the course side of the lake during hours of operation.

LOCKER ROOM

·         Locker Fee is $72 per year.

  • A limited number of lockers are available in our locker room.
  • The Golf Shop controls the rental of lockers. Call 864.489.9417 for availability.

 

SOCIAL HALL

·         The clubhouse is available to all adult members of the club. The facilities upstairs can be rented up to one year in advance.

  • Reserving the clubhouse is allocated by first come first served. If two members try to rent at the same time, a drawing will determine who gets the reservation.
  • Call 864.489.9417 to reserve the facility.

·         Do not block entrances to the facilities upstairs or the entrance to the parking lot; diagonal lines in the parking lot designate these areas cars will be towed

·         The rental fee must be paid by the member unless the fee is being paid by a business or unless an exception has been made in advance by the Board of Directors and/or Golf Professional.

·         Social Hall (reservation no earlier than one year to date of event)

TOURNAMENTS AND OUTINGS

  • All tournaments and outings take priority on the golf course.  
  • The Cherokee National Junior Association is conducted during the summer months. (SEE CNJGA)
  • The Golf Professional, Golf Course Superintendent and Tournament Chairman as a committee have the authority to schedule Golf Tournaments.

JUNIOR GOLF RULES (18 & UNDER)

·         An adult golfer must accompany any junior while playing golf, unless they have passed the rules and etiquette test to become a member of the Cherokee National Golf Club Junior Golf Association. The names of those junior members will be posted in the golf shop.

  • The Cherokee National Junior Golf Association (CNJGA) clinics are held in the summer months
  • Junior golfers will make every effort to see that ball marks and bunkers are repaired when they are playing.
  • No more than four players can play together unless permission is given by the golf shop staff.
  • Junior golfers must immediately move out of the way and allow faster players to play through. Adult golfers have priority on the course.
  • Any display of temper that is deemed unbecoming of a gentleman, or any act of temper that could cause damage to the golf course or others is strictly forbidden.
  • Profane and/or vulgar language will not be tolerated.
  • Running, yelling, or any such act of "horseplay" on the golf course, or in the vicinity of the golf course is not permitted.
  • "Hanging-around" the golf shop or golf shop area is strictly forbidden.
  • Junior Golfers must observe the dress code policy.
  • Junior golfers do not have the privileges of adult members of the club. You must take extra special care of the golf course to see that your spike marks, ball marks, divots, etc. are carefully repaired.
  •  Loitering in the areas of the shop, golf course, driving range, and around the golf carts is not allowed. You are expected to set an example for all members. In return, you are granted the right to play during specified hours as dictated by the golf shop. Do not allow any of your fellow junior golfers to violate any of the rules. This will only result in the entire Junior Golf Association suffering the consequences for the actions of a few. Report any violations of the rules to the Golf Shop! Individuals ignoring any of these rules will be suspended, WITHOUT warning!!!
  • Juniors may have a handicap in the CGA handicap system free of charge.

·         Junior golfers must have valid driving license to operate or rent a golf cart.

·         Junior golfers are allowed to play during non-peak times unless accompanied by an adult.  Peak starting times are Saturday & Holiday mornings and Sunday until 4pm. Juniors must always check in and sign-in at the golf shop and get permission before teeing off.

SWIMMING POOL

  • Swimming Pool Scheduled to open for Season Memorial Weekend (Saturday)

Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday -- 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Sunday -- 1:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.

 

Swimming Pool Management has the right to close swimming pool without notice at anytime due to inclement weather or pool maintenance.
