2011 LABOR DAY TOURNAMENT RESULTS

This years Labor Day Tournament was very close and scores were higher than recent years. The format was 36 holes best ball net using 80 percent of handicap played from white tees for those 54 and younger, gold tees for those 55 to 69, and red tees for those age 70 and older.
Handicaps were reviewed thoroughly and adjusted as the handicap and tournament committee of nine members agreed. The committees' goal was to do everything possible to give every team entered a realistic chance to win. The committee also set pins both days, tough but fair to reward good golf shots and putting. The committee also felt if pins were tough, scores would not be as low as recent years. This theory worked.  For two days the lowest 18-hole score was 9 under. In the past, some scores have been as low as 16 or 17 under.
Luckily the weather was excellent. Sunday and Monday was better than expected with a couple of brief showers but not as bad as the 100 percent chance of rain that had been forecast. 
Congratulations to David Metheny, who played with an 8 handicap and Mike Dover, who played with a 6 handicap after their handicaps were cut to 80 percent for their win. Mike and David "brother-in-lawed" their way to only one bogey in two days and that was the difference.
